KidPoint at the Movies

This month in KidPoint, we’re going to the movies! Throughout this series, kids will discover that we can see God everywhere and learn to recognize His presence all around us! Each week, we’ll watch key clips from a different favorite movie and use those moments to explore a biblical truth from God’s Word. As we compare these movies with what the Bible teaches, kids will discover that the Bible is our source of truth and that God can use everyday moments to point us to Him!

We won’t be watching entire movies in KidPoint. Instead, we’ll focus on specific clips that help bring each week’s biblical truth to life. Our prayer is that as kids learn to look for God’s truth in these stories, they’ll also begin to recognize His presence in the everyday moments of their own lives!

Here’s what we’ll be learning:

Week 1: God loves me no matter what!

Luke 15:11–32 — The Lost Son | Finding Nemo

Kids will discover that God’s love for us never changes, no matter what! Through the story of the lost son, kids will see a picture of a loving Father who welcomes His child home with open arms. As we look at key clips from Finding Nemo, we’ll see how a father’s love can remind us of the even greater love our Heavenly Father has for us. No matter how far we go or what mistakes we make, God loves us and wants us to come back to Him!

Week 2: God made us to work together!

Romans 12:3–6a — The Body of Christ | The Incredibles

Kids will learn that God created each of us with unique gifts, abilities, and purposes, and He made us to use those gifts together! Through key clips from The Incredibles, kids will see how different strengths can work together to accomplish something greater. In the same way, we each have something important to contribute. When we use what God has given us to help others and work together, we can accomplish more for God’s Kingdom than we could ever do on our own!

Week 3: God can use me to make a difference!

Esther 4:14 | The Lorax

Kids will discover that God can use ANYONE to make a difference! Through the story of Esther, kids will learn that God can place us in specific situations and give us opportunities to do something that matters. As we look at key clips from The Lorax, we’ll see how even one person’s choices can make a difference. Kids will be encouraged to recognize the opportunities God gives them to help others, stand up for what is right, and make a difference wherever they are!

Week 4: God tells me who I am!

Ephesians 2:10, 1 John 3:1, Psalm 139:13–14, Ephesians 4:23–24 | Wreck-It Ralph

Kids will discover that God—not the world, other people, or even our own feelings—gets to tell us who we are! Through key clips from Wreck-It Ralph, we’ll explore what happens when we let our role, our mistakes, or what others think about us define who we are. God’s Word tells us that we are created by Him, deeply loved by Him, and made for a purpose. When we allow God to shape the way we see ourselves, we can live confidently as the people He created us to be!

Memory Verse

“How can I get away from your Spirit? Where can I go to escape from you? If I go up to the heavens, you are there. If I lie down in the deepest parts of the earth, you are also there.”Psalm 139:7–8 (NIRV)

This month’s memory verse reminds us that God’s Spirit is ALWAYS with us! There is nowhere we can go where God is not present.

Family Table Talk Questions

One of the greatest ways to help your child grow in their faith is by talking about what they’re learning throughout the week. Whether you’re around the dinner table, driving to school, watching a movie together, or getting ready for bed, take a few moments to ask questions, listen well, and help your child look for God in the everyday moments of life.

  • Where have you noticed God this week?
  • What is something from a movie that reminds you of something God teaches us in the Bible?
  • How can knowing that God is always with you change the way you see your everyday life?
A Prayer for Your Family

Our prayer is that KidPoint at the Movies will help kids look at the world around them through the lens of God’s Word. Movies can tell great stories, but the Bible is where we find the truth about who God is, who we are, and how He wants us to live!

This month, I am praying that your children will learn to recognize God’s presence everywhere they go! I’m praying they will learn to look to God’s Word for truth and allow what He says to shape the way they see the world, themselves, and the people around them.

I’m also praying that your family will have fun conversations this month as you watch movies together, talk about what you see, and look for opportunities to point each other back to Jesus. May your home be a place where your children are continually reminded that God sees them, God is with them, and God loves them!

Thank you for trusting us with your kids and allowing us to partner with you as you lead them in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus!

With Gratitude,
