KidPoint Series: What is the Bible?

KidPoint Series: What is the Bible?
Every Sunday in KidPoint, we teach kids from the Bible—but this season, we’re taking a closer look at the Bible itself! In this series, kids will learn what the Bible is, why God gave it to us, how to read it, and why we can trust it. Our goal is for kids to understand that the Bible is true, trustworthy, and points to Jesus. As they learn, they’ll be encouraged to love God’s Word, believe it, read it and do what it says!

Our memory verse for this series reminds kids of the power and purpose of Scripture:
“God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right.” — 2 Timothy 3:16, NIRV

Each week, elementary-aged kids will explore these truths and Scriptures together:

Week 1: The Bible is God’s Word! (2 Timothy 3:16)
Kids will learn that the Bible is more than just words on a page, it’s God’s very Word for them! They’ll discover how God’s Word can teach them what’s true, help correct their mistakes, and guide them to live in a way that honors God and loves people.

Week 2: The Old Testament points to Jesus! (2 Timothy 3:16; Leviticus 16:30; 2 Samuel 7:12b–13; Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 9:6-7)
Kids will explore how the Old Testament isn’t just one book, but many books that all point to Jesus. From God’s promises to His plan to rescue us, they’ll see how God’s story was intentional and trustworthy from the beginning!

Week 3: The New Testament reveals Jesus! (2 Timothy 3:16; John 1:14; Acts 1:8; Colossians 3:12–14; Revelation 17:14)
Kids will see how the New Testament shows Jesus’ life, love, and mission. They’ll learn that Jesus came to save us, teach us how to live, and invite us into a relationship with Him—the Savior God promised all the way back in Genesis, who would save us from our sin and restore our relationship with Him!

Our prayer is that this series helps kids not only understand the Bible, but experience it personally. We’re believing that as kids explore God’s Word, they’ll grow in confidence that it’s true, it points to Jesus, and it can guide their lives every day!
